Resources

I have a Resources page to share some of the places I use to find tools, materials and to get more information on building or working on one's dollhouse. These are all sources I would recommend and that I use myself. I have made comments about each of them and suggest your checking each of them out.

Micro-Mark is an excellent source for small tools, and most
anything you might need for working on your dollhouse or
small room box. It is a model builders site for miniaturists
and railroad enthusiasts.

If you are wanting to work with LEDs, Evan Designs is an
excellent website. Dave Evan has an easy website to navigate.
It is full of instructional information with great pictures and
graphics. He specializes in Railroading but has expanded into
miniature displays and lighting. I highly recommend them.

Model Builders Supply has a number of material supplies.
Because I specialize in electrical wiring, I do not use them much
myself but they are a good one to check out.

Cir-kit Concepts is the oldest and original company to focus
on the electrical wiring of dollhouses and displays. They are
another site for wiring information and instruction.

Richard Stacey is a true find. Although they are located in
Chichester, West Sussex, England, they have a most unusual
offering to the miniature world. They make real brick and stone
products for the dollhouse. Everything from Cladding, Roofing
Flooring, Brick wall, and even do custom orders.

A Few Miniature Shops/Stores:

I have listed a few of my favorite Miniature stores. Each of them
are special because of the owner/operator. Each of them enjoy
working with individuals to find that very special item and can
share their experiences with the physical building of a dollhouse
and in referring other artisans that may be of assistance.
Bev Simon is the owner of Miniature Designs and they do a lot
of work in the construction of dollhouses as well as an extensive
collection of miniature furniture and supplies on their website.
Be sure to ask her about her brother who also is into miniatures.
Renee Marlowe is the owner of Miniature cottage and she
always has a lot of estate sales items for that special one of a
kind item. Renee is also an artist. Cheryl Ufnowski is the owner
of Jeepers miniature and has become a close friend of mine
and I often have her help me at the Chicago Trade Show.  Karen Airds is the owner of Karen's Dollhouse shop.  Her shop is in Clinton, NJ and seeing the town as well as her shop makes the trip well worth a stop.  I give five stars to each of these shops.

Magazines to Consider

Dolls House World is the Uk’s favorite magazine. I have used
them several times to print my articles. I like them because each
magazine offers how-to’s and lots of ideas to inspire. They are
published by Ashdown Publishing. They also publish “Dollhouse
Miniatures” and “American Miniaturists”. American Miniaturists
is America’s favorite miniatures magazine. I have used American
Miniaturists and Dolls House World but each are good sources
for lots of ideas.

Clubs

NAME is the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts.
There are lots of local clubs associated with NAME and is a
great way to get involved with others that enjoy miniatures.
One can locate a club near you by clicking on “Connect” on
NAME’s menu line.

Museums on Miniatures

Museum of Make Believe
1590 S Coast Hwy Ste 5
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

“Ghost Stories and Fairy Tales”

“The Museum of Make Believe is dedicated to preserving the timeless art of storytelling in a uniquely creative environment that is both ethereal and enchanting. Created by a team of artists and visionaries, it offers a truly magical twist on the way contemporary art is experienced. Prepare to be transported to a place of magic and mystery where you can experience the charm of nostalgia, the power of storytelling, and the spark of imagination.”

Although not actually a miniature dollhouse museum, the Museum of Make Believe displays a number of miniature displays that support a story or some fairy tale. This is a very different type of museum and one of my very favorite to visit.

Located north of Indianapolis, Indiana, the Museum of Miniature
Houses is the museum I have done a considerable amount of
wiring for. It is one of only a few museums in the country that
is devoted to the art of fine scale miniatures. You can take a
virtual tour through a quick visit to their website.
